High Five for Friday!

Hi!

This week has been a little slow so I am basically loving not having to run around like a chook with it's head cut off!  Let's get into it shall we?

  1. Finally started reading The Hunger Games Trilogy!  So excited already!!
  2. It's getting warmer, so trips down the beach and to the park are becoming more common
  3. Experimenting with cooking, I finally had the time this week!
  4. Going to see my nephew's soccer game tomorrow
  5. Playing dress-ups with my neice

Fun, Fun, FUN!!!

Hope you all had a great week and have an even better weekend!

So Pretty Monday

Balmain is a french label I have loved (from afar!) for a long time so I thought this Monday's So Pretty post should feature the beautiful clothes from their Women's Collection Automne-Hiver 2012/2013.  Monochrome appears to be the look for Autumn/Winter this year and Balmain have jumped onto it with style.  This collection looks cosy and chic.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do:

High Five for Friday!

My High Five for Friday post this week is all about relaxation.  I started the week by slowing getting back into posting, back into technology and back on the phone after a well deserved break.  I gave up the 50 Day No Sugar Challenge and already the world seems more colourful which I celebrated with my So Pretty Monday post featuring Romance Was Born.  All in all it has been a great week so my high five has been:

1. Having a break from technology

2. Getting back into technology

3. Rediscovering sugar again by enjoying a Magnum Ego Caramel ice cream sitting on the sand watching the waves

4. Salivating over pics of gorgeous dresses at David Jones Spring Fashion show

5. Sitting down with the newspaper and a coffee for the first time in a while and reading some news instead of gossip (there's a lot going on out there people).

I hope you've all had as good a week as I have!

Etsy Crush: Single Stone Studios

I have been a little slack on the blogging front recently (my apologies) but I have been living life and having a great break from technology, even my phone.  The downside is I now have a hell of a lot of people to call back!

My Etsy Crush this week is a store called Single Stone Studios.  What caught my eye while cruising Etsy's Homewares was this wall decal quote by Robert Frost:

If any of you have read my previous post on Robert Frost's poem Fire and Ice you had better believe the above quote is from the end of one of my other favourite Robert Frost poems "The Road Not Taken".  Whenever I'm at a crossroads (metaphorically... but sometimes physically) or just looking back on the choices I have made in the last few years, I always think of this poem and these last lines in particular.

Wall decals have become very popular lately, but I still enjoy trying to find some new and unusual ones that may fit in my home.  Check out some of my favourites below and let me know what you think.

So Pretty Monday

Romance Was Born is another Australian fashion label created by designers Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett.  They first met in design school and have been joined at the hip ever since creating fantastic collections every season from comic book heroine inspired clothing to this funky futuristic spring/summer 2012 collection called The Miraculous Mundane.  If you need a bit of colour in your life right now then these artistic pieces are for you.

Also, if you want to read an interesting article featuring the labels creators go here.

I love them all!

Challenge Update: Day 21

Sooooo..... Day 21 today and I am bringing you my challenge update!

I give up...

Well, it's not that I'm giving up exactly but rather realising when I just can't go any further.  It's been an extremely interesting challenge trying to live evey day without consuming a hell of a lot of sugar but it's also been a very bleak few weeks and let's face it... it was rather like taking the colour out of life.  Life seemed just that little bit grey, dull and boring compared to the little bit of rainbow sugar I let through a window like sunshine every day!

In the end I just wasn't functioning properly.  It took a little longer to think when a response was required of me in a conversation and people were starting to wonder if I had taken up drinking before 10am!  In my opinion I have gone as far as I can go but I do appreciate finding out that a little bit of sugar in my life is just fine and if I carry a few extra pounds because of it... well, at least I can carry on a conversation again now.

I hope you've all had a great weekend!
